About Joni
Biography
Joni Jurek is a representational oil painter from east central Minnesota. At an early age she expressed an intense interest in art and over the years has pursued painting primarily via workshops and classes taught by prominent national and internationally recognized painters. Several of her paintings have won awards and many reside in private collections.
Joni's inspiration comes from people and animal relationships, experiences, and the constant and changing beauty surrounding our every day lives. In particular, being a mother has taught her to be sensitive, intuitive and patient, all of which have helped enrich her paintings. Joni's subject matter also reflects her love of nature and consists of the often overlooked place or a fleeting light effect and locations range from her back yard to the western United States and Europe. Her works consist of small 6x8 studies to much larger studio works. An easel, paints and brushes are now part of her permanent luggage, since she feels painting outdoors and from life are crucial to her continued growth as a painter.
