About Joni
Biography

Joni has been painting for over 20 years and is largely a self-taught painter. Even as a child, growing up in the beautiful St. Croix River Valley of eastern Minnesota, she was fascinated with the warmth of the sun, gentle breezes and the changing light, colors and shadows. Nature inspired and compelled her to try and capture the emotion and spirit of a place or subject through drawing and painting. 

I’ve been interested in art for as long as I can remember. After a several year period of painting with my eyes versus a paintbrush, a friend encouraged me to start painting again with a local weekly open studio class. One class was all it took to hook me into nurturing my passion for painting. Soon, I realized the more I painted the more I wanted to learn and the more I wanted to paint. I have participated in workshops and classes most recently by Mary Pettis, Kami Polzin, and Marc Hanson.

I am truly inspired and humbled at the prospect of the lifelong journey of learning and exploring this craft.
