Welcome and thank you for visiting!

 

Crex Meadow Evening is the last painting of the day in a very productive painting excursion with some fellow painters.  We ventured into the Crex Meadow Wildlife Area near Grantsburg, Wisconsin, for a full day of painting.  The weather was just about perfect for this time of year (early fall). The bugs, however, did not realize their time was up for the season, which inspired all of us to paint fast.

I am compelled to observe and record beauty in the ordinary world around us and strive to create paintings that reflect how I am impacted by a scene, subject and/or experience.  The texture and richness of oil paints are thrilling and painting from life provides an avenue to study artistic elements in a way that cannot be duplicated in any other setting.  When painting outdoors, the challenges of changing light conditions, weather and even bugs force me to make decisions and painting marks that are truthful and heartfelt.  I am honored to share my experiences with you through my paintings.
